Dye-VL Photofacial in Calgary

Targeted pulsed light for redness, visible capillaries and sun spots. Dye-VL brings narrow-band precision to the classic photofacial, performed by an RN in NE Calgary.

Dye-VL is an advanced intense pulsed light treatment delivered on the Alma Harmony XL Pro. Unlike classic IPL, which fires a broad spectrum of light, Dye-VL narrows the output to a precise band that targets the two things most photofacial clients care about: redness and pigment. That focus can help fade the appearance of rosacea-related flushing, broken capillaries, sun spots and general sun damage, while sparing more of the surrounding skin. Many clients see clearer, more even-looking skin over a short series, though results vary.

Calgary skin takes a beating. Our sunny, dry, high-altitude climate means more UV exposure year-round, and that shows up as sun spots, blotchiness and reactive redness. At JuvyDerm Skin Care and Laser Centre in NE Calgary, your Dye-VL photofacial is performed by our medical aesthetics team led by Juvy Terbio, an aesthetic specialist with over 15 years of experience, with medical oversight from Dr. Vanessa Terbio-Fernandez, a board-certified dermatologist. We are Alma Lasers certified and AASP certified, and more than 5,000 clients have trusted us with their skin. Consultations are always free.

Why choose JuvyDerm

Targets redness and flushing

The narrow wavelength band is well matched to the redness of visible capillaries and rosacea-related flushing, which can help calm the look of a reactive complexion.

Fades sun spots and pigment

Dye-VL energy is also absorbed by excess pigment, so sun spots and blotchy discolouration can gradually darken, flake and fade over the following days.

More precise than classic IPL

By narrowing the light spectrum, Dye-VL concentrates energy where it is needed, which can mean an efficient treatment with less scatter to surrounding skin.

Minimal interruption

Most clients return to normal activities the same day. Temporary redness or darkened spots are common and typically settle as the skin renews.

What to expect

Free consultation: Your clinician reviews your skin, health history and sun exposure, and confirms Dye-VL suits your concerns and skin tone. Consultations at JuvyDerm are free.

Your treatment: After cleansing and gel application, calibrated pulses of light are delivered across the area. Clients often describe a warm snap. Sessions are usually 20 to 30 minutes.

A short series: Most concerns respond best to a series, commonly 3 to 5 sessions spaced about 4 weeks apart, with an annual touch-up to manage new sun exposure.

Aftercare and sun care: Spots may look darker for several days before fading. Daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential afterward, especially under Calgary's strong high-altitude sun.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Dye-VL photofacial cost in Calgary?

It depends on the area treated and the number of sessions in your plan, so pricing is confirmed at your free consultation rather than as a one-size-fits-all number. Financing is available through Medicard and Sezzle. Call (403) 460-2100 and we will put together a plan with transparent pricing.

Is Dye-VL suitable for my skin tone?

Dye-VL is generally best suited to light and medium skin tones, because the light targets pigment and very deep natural pigment can absorb more energy. Your clinician will assess your skin at your free consultation and, if Dye-VL is not the right match, recommend a safer alternative such as ClearLift.

How is Dye-VL different from a regular IPL photofacial?

Classic IPL releases a wide spectrum of light. Dye-VL narrows that spectrum to a precise band concentrated on redness and pigment, which can make treatments more targeted and efficient. It runs on the Alma Harmony XL Pro platform in our clinic.

Will my sun spots disappear after one session?

Spots often darken and then flake away over one to two weeks, and many clients see meaningful fading within a series of sessions. Results vary, and new sun exposure can create new spots, which is why SPF and occasional maintenance matter.

Is there downtime?

Usually very little. Expect some warmth and redness for a few hours and temporarily darker spots for several days. Most clients wear makeup and carry on as normal the next day. We provide simple aftercare instructions.

“I'm very particular about clinics - I always check the machines (Alma Laser) and the staff's qualifications. Knowing Juvy comes from a family of doctors and is a nurse herself gave me confidence right away.”
